Jerry, Student Government president, has a giant red elect-me sign on The Green. I'm tempted to egg it... or steal the sign. So tempted... Because Jerry and all of SG reminds me of the future of politics... that it will be just as it is right now. Most of SG is very white, preppy in dress, and smooth talkers. I've talked to them... they are smooth. And when I say white, they are very pasty white, white like Bill Clinton jogging legs white. But all this is speculation. It's just that I don't trust them (and I will never trust a smug smooth talker, they are chester cats with grins.) and I wouldn't trust anyone seeking a political position. Who seeks to be a leader? A fool. (i.e. George W. and when Kerry gets elected, I'm sure he'll have his fun moments that we can all chuckle about.) Socrates himself had a political office and because of all the ego, pride, stupidity, and shit that comes with such an office, he got out. And he concluded that if one wants to make change in the world, the best way to do that is NOT be in a political position. No one chooses to be a leader, it just happens. Just like no one chooses to be in love, it happens on it's own accord. No thinking involved, no batteries required. But if one wants to be in love and pursues it that way, then he is a fool. Same with the leader, he goes after the leadership and he's just patting himself on the back. What a person does with his life right now, without some lofty intentions, gives him the possibility of leadership but he himself will never choose to be a leader. This is how a true leader is born. The environment or the people might choose, but a person himself shouldn't consider choosing, for his sake and for others. But as we all know, philosophy is crap in a bucket. People are so multi-varied and self-interested that not many sit down and think. Even more don't sit down, think, and walk the path. We all get angry when our own ideal philosophies can't be realized but the world is not a control, ideal environment. It's very chaotic with multiple levels and add humans to that equation and you have a war zone. So a person can dream all he wants to, but the only change starts with oneself. If the world sees the human light that person gives off, then they will copy. The person will then be a true leader, because of the truth in him. Till then, any philosophy is worth shit and plenty of leaders (people) talk shit. Just watch CNN and you'll see for yourself.
