So I finally finished my story and all the people in my class reviewed it and slashed apart what they didn't like. The reviews went like the bell curve: a few sucked, a few were moderate, and a few are for sure keepers. I thought these we funny lines in the reviews. "and the author just abused the use of pronouns." Which is funny to me because I thought I wasn't using enough pronouns. "I don't like the first two sentences at all. I don't know why. They just bother me." I...don't...know...why. For the people that don't know but yet somehow know, they really don't know. "I knew the ending way before you gave it to me." This is funny because I had no idea how to end the story while I was writing it. "When reading it for the first time, I thought that Mason would end up killing her at the end." Really, I had no idea who would kill who. "On the whole I think the story could be interesting but it was extremely long." This woman gave the worst review. She has a lot of frowny faces next to the moronic lines. "I could tell from the beginning that this man was going to be killed." Well yah, I guess since the beginning paragraph was from his perspective and that he was scared shitless, who wouldn't guess the ending? This was another bad review, he was really picky. His short story sucked... alot. "I also like the sex scene... Maybe she should be on top." This was damn funny, maybe I'll make a more aggresive sex scene? :D "The grasshopper part is a perfect example of something Ari mentioned about adding description without adjectives." This sounds important and I have yet to understand what it means. I have learned from the stupid reviews, so I try my best to review a story twice, in case I was blinded by annoyance. If you start out a story hating it, then you'll end up hating it in the end. It's just best to put it aside after the first read and give it another try later. Maybe the author actually had a good point that you missed from being blind-sighted. But no one is humble enough to say they don't get a story, instead they say: THIS IS SHIT and then they still get credit for the review. When I revise my story, I"ll post it here on D-Land. Until then, give me a month... or a year... but probably a month.
